Fancy making it in Bollywood but struggling to make the right connections to kick-start your film career? A UAE-based website claims to be able to set you up and make your Bollywood dreams come true – for a charge.

‘Bollymodel’ is an up and coming portal that allows aspiring actors to upload their portfolio, and then claims to connect with reputed filmmakers and production houses in the Indian film industry.

Explaining the concept of Bollymodel, Ibrahim, founding partner of Bollymodel, says: “It is an online talent pool that allows aspiring actors to create their profile online and showcase their talent. Their images, blogs and videos can be accessed by production houses and casting agents from across the globe.”

While the film companies can access the portfolios for free, the aspiring actors will, however, have to pay up for their online portfolios. “The platinum pack is for Dh3,500,” Ibrahim adds.

He is optimistic that his website will be the way forward. “If you want to get to Bollywood, then this is how to do it.”

According to him, this exercise attempts to eliminate middlemen and promises to make the connection simple and straightforward. “It's about cleaning up the industry of its dodgy image. It just makes the entire process transparent.”

“Our site saves time and costs for corporates which can source new talent from the comfort of their offices.” Bollymodel can also customise the selection process as per the requirements of each film company, he said.

“For individuals, it provides an opportunity for their talent to be seen and potentially recruited. This is the first-of-its kind Bollywood concept.”

Bollymodel claims to constantly review the portfolios and guide the members on how to go about finding their Bollywood spotlight. “We ensure that our members get access to numerous high profile events in the UAE, that will help them build their network. And, we even make recommendations for projects.”

To top it, the portal can also ‘manage’ the careers of successful candidates, helping them find their footing in the industry.

Ibrahim maintains to have received an encouraging response from Indians and Pakistanis around the world and in the UAE, flaunting the “6,500 likes” that their Facebook page has received before the portal officially launches next month.
