Virat Kohli opens up about Anushka Sharma's effect on him

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli earlier lashed out at critics, who blamed his girlfriend Anushkha Sharma for Team India's exit from ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

He said that people who blame Anushka should be ashamed of themselves.

Kohli, opened up for the first time since the World Cup exit, after which his actress girlfriend took a lot of unnecessary flak in various social networking sites.

He stood up for his lady love in the face of all the criticism.

In an interview to ABP news Virat questioned those who panned Anushka and questioned if she is the reason for his poor performance why not credit her for his success too.

He gave Anushka the credit for his good performance during the Test series and said the reason for it was the fact that he felt happy and stable and was not stressed,

"No one came out and said she is the reason why I got four centuries in the Test series. She was there in every Test in that series, watching me and cheering me on. And not many people know she is the major reason why I was able to play in that Test series the way I did. Because on the field I was feeling very happy, I was feeling very stable. I was not thinking about anything else. I was not stressed. I was spending quality time with her. That kept me in my zone every time I stepped on to the field. It helped me stay calm as I was not taking unnecessary pressure. It was shocking to know that people can target someone’s personal life like this. She had no relevance to the defeat. She only has a positive effect on me. But people found her guilty. Strange! They played the blame game very easily."

Virat revealed how he had asked for permissions from all the relevant authorities before calling Anushka over to Australia.

Virat admitted to Anushka being a very special part of his daily life and how he trusts in her and their relationship together. He stated that he would give his all to the game of cricket and to win for India and that at the end of the day the opinions of his teammates, the team management and the BCCI is what matters to him,

He went on to state that Anushka is the one who keeps him calm and motivates him and hence whenever he sees her cheering for him during the matches, it makes him feel special and gives him strength.

"There are very few people in my life that I can sit down and listen to. She is one of them. I listen to her calmly about everything she says. She makes me understand if I make a mistake, if I am doing something wrong. She gives me that calm feeling. She gives me that assurance. And I know she will always support me, no matter what. That's a big thing for me. So when I see her cheering for me at the ground, it obviously makes me feel special. It gives me more strength, makes me feel calmer... it's like an emotional support. Once you get that you don't need to think about anything else. Because once you are feeling the emotional support, you are feeling so confident that you can go out there and conquer."

Virat termed his relationship with Anushka as a serious one and said that he feels happy and stable with his personal and professional life.
