Weekend movies: What to watch and what not to

Despite it being the long weekend, the catalogue of new movie releases this time round doesn’t appear impressive. There are a few, fairly decent entertainers but nothing remarkable that would prompt us to skip a weekend getaway for a trip to the movie halls.
 
But if you aren’t packing away on a mini-break and are hell-bent on heading to the cinemas, then we suggest that you reunite with Madagascar’s fun-foursome - Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman. We doubt it’d be a novel trip, considering these wisecracker’s have embarked on similar journeys twice before, but it’s going to be fairly hilarious, with an ample dose of one-liners thrown in.
 
Rajesh Mapuskar’s ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’ might appear modest in its casting but is solid on storyline and performances. If that’s not all, there’s Vidya Balan’s debut as an item girl that should win over some takers.
 
Among the others, there’s Martin Donovan’s ‘Collaborator’ and Lasse Hallström’s ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’, that haven’t won favourable response from the critics but promises great stories.
 
But the one’s that should be, most definitely, given a miss are ‘Iron Sky’ and ‘Soldiers of Fortune’.
 
Madagascar 3: Europe Most Wanted

The Story: Central Park zoo fugitives – Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman – land up in Europe, where they join a traveling circus and reinvent it in the Madagascar style.
