What to do in Abu Dhabi this summer: Fun Nation, Peter Pan

It’s summer time - holiday and family time – in the UAE. An array of captivating shows are being lined-up for families across Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2016 is set to thrill yet again, with fantasy and action-packed edutainment shows across multiple venues throughout the emirate.

Here are some of the events to check out…

Fun Nation

From July 14 to August 6, Fun Nation, an entertaining installation of epic proportions, combines gaming, cooking, sports and fashion shows at du Forum on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island.

Sports and culinary showcases will be the focus from July 14 to July 23, with the promise of mouth-watering gourmet cooking displays and a Healthy Living exhibition for food and lifestyle enthusiasts in the first week of Fun Nation.

Those looking to jumpstart their fitness goals before the summer ends can enjoy daily cricket and sports clinics, zorb football, martial arts and a 10-day full body training programme designed for adults keen on getting into shape or adding to their summer fitness routine.

From July 28 to August 6, Fun Nation will host a series of gaming tournaments and fashion inspired workshops. Whether you are looking to test your skills in Fifa 16, Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Street Fighter V, or prefer to custom design your own fashion pieces, Fun Nation is sure to keep you engaged.

To add to the already expansive line-up of fantastic activities for the whole family, Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, Shaun the Sheep and a host of other favourite characters will also make their splash to the capital, thrilling the younger visitors to Fun Nation.

Non-stop family fun takes over at Al Ain Mall from July 27-July 30, and Al Gharbia from August 10-13, as household edutainment cartoon characters Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants and Shaun the Sheep appear on stage in interactive spectacles set to excite the younger crowd. In these adventure-filled storytelling productions, children will enjoy a unique combination of colourful singing, dancing and learning displays for the whole family.

The District

Du Forum opens its gates yet again from August 18 to September 17, hosting a unique concept for those aged 14-22. The District is specifically designed with the youth in mind, offering an exhaustive line up of programmes inspired by innovation, entertainment, technology, fashion, digital media, health and science, nutrition and sustainability to name a few. Set in five distinctive zones throughout the venue: the Park, Alley, Dome, Street and Block; each area will carry its uniquely designed themes. These themes will be characterised by workshops, classes, live performances and activities that appeal to the tastes, trends and interests of teenagers and young adults.

Peter Pan

Watch  live adventure of Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story, at Al Raha Theatre from August 31-September 3 in a show that cannot be missed. The extraordinary theatre production features fifty actors, dancers, stuntspeople, acrobats and illusionists, and chronicles the tale of Peter Pan and his adventures on Neverland Island. The performance showcases intriguing costume and set designs, as well as classic compositions including a score by Grammy Award-winning composer Matt Dunkler. Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story will make for a memorable theatre outing for the entire family.
