India's largest jewelry retail chain Kalyan Jewellers, is entering the competitive Mumbai market.

They have sounded the bugle and guess who all are leading the fight for them - Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and daughter-in-law/actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The two stalwarts of Indian cinema, who also happens to be the brand ambassadors of Kalyan Jewelry, will inaugurate the three new retail stores for the chain.

Amitabh Bachchan will inaugurate the Kalyan Jewellers Borivali showroom at 11: 00 AM (IST) and Aishwarya Rai will inaugurate the Thane showroom at 1:00 PM and Vashi Showroom at 2:00 PM (IST). That is, if they manage to come on time (knowing how infamous celebrities are about punctuality) and if they manage to keep the crowds under control.

Both Amitabh and Aishwarya in a span of one year did number adverts for the company. In fact post delivery Aishwarya's first assignment in front of the camera was for Kalyan.

But Ash's first commercial with the jewelry company came under severe criticism for blatant photoshop.

Aishwarya also inaugurated Kalyan's Kochi store in August 2012. She looked happy and healthy and acknowledged the huge crowd gathered to get a glimpse of the beautiful actress.

The Kerala-based jeweler instead of choosing Zaveri bazaar or up market Bandra, is opening three showrooms in the suburbs and that could prove to be a golden opportunity for Kalyan Jewelers.

The company will open 3, 15,000 square feet showrooms in the suburbs at Thane, Vashi and Borivali. Each showroom will adopt the hypermarket format and will see a considerable investment of Rs 60-75 crores each.

This move is part of the 2-decade old company's national expansion drive, which kick started with Gujarat in 2012.
