Yash Chopra is cherished: SRK grooves, Big B shoots...

The entire Indian film industry was engulfed in grief on Sunday (October 21) evening as news of the demise of Indian film legend Yash Raj Chopra spread like wildfire. The entire film fraternity gathered at the Mumbai hospital where the filmmaker breathed his last after he lost his battle against dengue and died of multi-organ failure at the age of 80.

Stars could barely control their emotions when they paid their last respects to Chopra and accompanied him on his last journey on October 22. Many took to social networking sites to express their grief.

Shah Rukh Khan was bereaved after the sudden demise of his father figure and mentor.

SRK tweeted after visiting the body of his father figure and mentor for the last time: "Whenever my loved ones depart, I feel a part of me extinguishes itself with them. Will there come a day that I will no longer have a bit of myself to let go of? And then the thought follows ... that every time they have taken some of me with them onto their last journey, I have found a fragment of them left inside me too.

"I will always have some love to give and I will always be both emptied and replenished by the loved ones I lose. I keep u with me Yashji and I miss u too Yashji ... lots."

Amitabh Bachchan, another actor who worked closely with Chopra from 1970s and gave evergreen hits with, claimed he had lost a dear friend too early, too soon. He also wrote about his greatest regret at not calling upon Chopra over morning tea due to his heavy schedule. Chopra had wanted to have a chat with Amitabh and requested him to drop in on any morning.

However, the real life of celebrities soon descended upon them and their professional commitments were such that they were not even permitted enough time to grieve for their lost friend, mentor, father-figure, etc.

Some celebrities had to literally swallow their tears and paste a smile on their face to perform for their fans.

Shah Rukh set aside what he termed as his 'personal loss' and soon got back to business with a live act in a Hindu religious festival in Mumbai suburb Vashi on October 24.

Although Shah Rukh downplayed his personal grief during the live act, the stress and grief was clearly etched on his face as he interacted with his fans at the event. It would not have been easy for him to groove on his hit songs to entertain hundreds of people.

It's never easy in the face of a tragedy.

Amitabh Bachchan too had to return to the studios, don grease paint and get back to what they do best - perform in front of an audience.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Facebook, “At the studio for KBC shoot ... the show goes on ... but the heart does not .. odd to be in a spirit of normality, when the last few hours and days have been so disturbing …”

Yash Chopra last film “Jab Tak Hai Jaan,” which features Shah Rukh in the lead along with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma will release as per schedule on November 13.

The show must go on.
