'Dubai can organise wonderful Expo'

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has affirmed that Dubai, backed by the UAE, is fully able of organising a wonderful Expo 2020 with world-class qualities, thanks to its unique and highly advanced infrastructure, telecom networks and transport systems.

Sheikh Nahyan, in statements to the French ‘Le Journal Des Arts’ magazine, said that France, a major economic and cultural partner of the UAE, supports hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai. "We want to celebrate progress in sustainable development."

Sheikh Nahyan noted that Dubai's bid to host EXPO 2020 is a natural continuation of the UAE's efforts to establish its stature as a unique global hub for cultural coexistence, and affirmed that the UAE seeks to achieve rapprochement between the cultures of the world, promote common values and principles, and strongly believes that dialogue and communication represent the way to achieve happiness and global peace for people around the world.

He affirmed that the UAE is a role model for tolerance and positive relations between cultures as it hosts nationals from across the world who live, work and worship enjoying peace and stability in the country.

Sheikh Nahyan also noted that the UAE plays an important role in global tourism sector, and in social and economic development, both regionally and internationally, as it is open up to the rest of the world and seeks to achieve a better world that is more peaceful, prosperous and advanced.

He further noted that the UAE, with its knowledge-based society and economy, contributes to the progress of the world's knowledge and technology.

Sheikh Nahyan commended the UAE leadership for adopting enlightened social and environmental policies and focus its attention on promoting the contribution of all men and women in the process of national development.

"We have record numbers in volunteering and public service. Men and women of the UAE contribute to the organisation of hundreds of festivals, exhibitions and conferences in the UAE every year," Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said.
