Etisalat receives Expo 2020 delegation

A delegation from the Expo 2020 team visited Etisalat pavilion at Gitex Technology Week to gain insight into company’s focus on creating a smarter world with ‘Smarter Solutions’ and ‘Smarter Technology’ at this year’s event.

Saleh Al Abdooli, Etisalat CEO, met and briefed the Expo 2020 team on the company’s support for the global event and its focus on enabling the UAE.for the "Smart Age of Smart Cities". The team toured the Etisalat pavilion to get a preview into all their smart solutions for the future.

The expo 2020 team viewed demonstrations of payments made by smart handsets and smart watches. The team also reviewed Etisalat’s Smarter Finance solutions which is the Application Trust Centre’ proposition designed to provide high-level system administrators targeted at the financial industry.

The Expo 2020 group was comprised of representatives from the 167 member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the body governing expos. They are visiting Dubai to see a presentation on the city’s theme for its bid and are participating in various conferences.

Etisalat’s theme, ‘Together we make the world smarter’, is in line with the UAE’s Expo 2020 theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ which will help the telecom major transform into a fully integrated telecom operator and ICT solutions provider, catering for future requirements and enabling innovation in the country.

Saleh Al Abdooli said, "The strategic vision of our leaders and the country’s dramatic growth in all sectors has placed the country on a global map. Dubai is well placed to bid and host Expo 2020 due to its long term planning and investment in the infrastructure, preparing the country for competitiveness in global markets.

"Etisalat is a premier partner for Expo 2020 and with our investments of more than Dh19 billion in building the infrastructure, we have enabled the UAE telecom market for the Smart Age of Smart Cities. Our infrastructure will support all the growing requirements of such a global event and its participants," he said.

The key pillars for Etisalat ‘Smart Solutions’ are mainly mobility, healthcare, hospitality, education, communication, security, energy, government, finance, computing, transport and business mobile.
