It also comes under a broader framework of boosting the effectiveness of the existing projects and initiatives to seek new work avenues for bypassing all obstacles and helping enable the disabled to positively engage with their social environment as individuals capable of contributing to the production and innovation drive.

“The Dubai Metro Use Manual includes information about how to plan for the metro trip, how to access the metro stations and move therein till boarding the metro carriage, and how to use the Nol card. The RTA has published around 1,000 copies of which 300 will be distributed to the disabled centers and entities, and 700 copies will be placed at the Information Desks of the Dubai Metro Stations.

“Next year the RTA will publish 3 booklets in Braille language namely - Water Taxi Use Manual, Dubai Ferry Use Manual, and Inter-City Bus Use Manual.

Similarly, about 500 booklets of the School Safety Manual was launched to make blind students aware of traffic safety concepts.

Al Tayer said, “The RTA offers a galaxy of diverse services and exemptions for special needs, including free parking cards, free public transport pass in Dubai Metro, water bus and public buses, in addition to relieving them from Salik fees.
