The UAE inventor, Ahmed Abdullah Majan, has announced that he would launch a personal initiative to promote UAE's bid to host the World Expo 2012 in Dubai during his participation in the 13th British Invention Show (BIS) in London.

Majan said, in a statement upon his arrival to London, he would coordinate his national initiative with the work team responsible for the file of UAE's bid.

The Higher Organising Committee for the 13th British Invention Show (BIS) has, for the first time, selected the Emirati inventor to compete for the coveted World Invention and British Invention of the Year Awards for his diverse great inventions and technological solutions.

Majan was invited to present his amazing inventions and creations along with other 400 genius minds from across the globe.

Majan welcomed his selection, saying that great ideas need exposure to potential partners in commerce and industry whose resources and skills can make the difference between a brilliant  idea and a reality.

The Office of the Minister for State has welcomed Majan's patriotic initiative as a national duty and a fitting opportunity for every Emirati man and woman engaging in international events to pay back for his homeland.

The Office, in statement it issued on Sunday, also welcomed the engagement of Majan with a galaxy of Emirati youths and major national companies for supporting national efforts aimed at winning the bid to host the high-profile international event.

''Participation of Majan will give a big boost to current efforts aimed at enabling the UAE to win the bid as a qualified destination to host the international exhibition,'' it added.

Supported by the British Inventors Society, the British Invention Show takes place at the Barbican Exhibition Centre London from October 23-26, 2013.

The BIS was created to develop new business opportunities by bringing together innovation and enterprise, investors and inventors, designers and manufacturers alongside associated services.
