Fake currency ‘found near garbage bin’

The Dubai Criminal Court has acquitted a Pakistani accused of possessing forged Indian currency worth Rs46,500 that he claimed was found in a bag near a garbage bin.

On March 13, GYM, 40, jobless, handed over the amount to someone called Mohammed Aqeel to change it into the UAE currency. The later gave the amount to Hilal, his sponsor’s son who was planning to travel to India.

Hilal told him that he wanted to check the notes with an exchange company. Hilal discovered the notes were forged and the police was notified, Mohammed Aqeel testified before the Prosecution.

Saeed Mohsen, policeman, testified that Mohammed Aqeel, 33, Indian driver, led to the accused GYM as the source of the fake notes.
