Ramadan days to be hottest in the year

The fasting month of Ramadan will see the hottest days in the year as it will include three periods known in the region for their high temperature and humidity levels, according to a well known Saudi astronomer.

Khaled Al Zuak, a member of the Arab Union for Space and Astronomy Science, said Ramadan which starts before the end of this month will include those three summer periods for the first time in decades – Jawza 1, Jawza 2 and Jumrat Al Qaiz.

“This is a very rare case. These three seasons are the hottest in the year, especially Jumrat Al Qaiz (ember of the heat),” he said, quoted by the Saudi daily 'Sada'.

He said temperatures and humidity levels would start to rise gradually at the beginning of Ramadan to reach their peak in the middle of the fasting month.

“The high temperatures will cause evaporation of some sea water and this process will lead to the formation of clouds that will block wind movement and create a feeling of strong heat and humidity,” he said.
