Iftar meals to be distributed to motorists

Lt.General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has instructed delivery of 35,000 iftar meals to motorists travelling on internal and external roads in the emirate of Abu Dhabi at the time of breaking fast.

Major-General Mohammed Awad Al Menhali, Acting Director General of Operations, Abu Dhabi Police, said the “feed the fast” programme is being carried out for the third year in co-ordination with the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim and Family Endowment and Al Foah Company.

He said that traffic patrols will distribute the meals to motorists who could not reach their destination at the time of iftar.

RCA IFTAR PROJECT

The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) on Wednesday started the iftar project at 96 locations nationwide and is set to give out 25,000 iftar meals daily worth Dh6.4 million.
 
The project is part of RCA's plans to further promote the values of solidarity and humanitarian giving and philanthropy in the community in the holy month in line with directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
 
The plans receive support from General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and are followed up on by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of RCA.
 
RCA committed a total of Dh28 million in funds for its domestic and overseas iftar projects for Ramadan this year.
