Cannes 2015: Safe player Katrina Kaif's grand debut is dud

Indian actress Katrina Kaif is the new kid on the L'Oreal block of Indian contingent at the Cannes International Film Festival along with regulars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor.

Bollywood fans back home were eagerly waiting for their 'Barbie Doll' to debut on the red carpet.

Attending the opening ceremony and premiere of 'La Tete Haute' (or 'Standing Tall') during the 68th Cannes on Wednesday (May 13) Katrina made her grand entry in Oscar De La Renta gown.

The black rose macramé gown with flower and ostrich feather embroidery is nice but not stunning.

Katrina is blessed with immense beauty but at the red carpet she was not breathtaking unlike what her fan pages on Twitter feels.

I do not love the gown also.

She is looking plain and usual, period. Where is the drama worthy of Cannes red carpet?

But then Katrina had earlier stated that she will not be attempting to set any trend at the film festival but represent herself.

Indian Express quoted the actress saying, "I will find something that I'm comfortable in and will not get carried away to make a statement."

The Oscar De La Renta black ensemble was highlighted with minimum accessories and loud makeup.

Katrina wore her burgundy hair side swept and in soft curls and styled the look with simple diamond jewellery including dangling earrings and bracelet.

The actress carried the small train with grace and panache, walking the walk and throwing poses for the shutterbugs.

But this is just Day 1 and the Bollywood beauty will take the red carpet again on May 14 (Thursday) and we hope she comes up with something more interesting.
