Cobone has just got serious about holiday packages, launches separate website with daily deals.

The new website Triperna.com by Tiger Global Management – a majority stakeholder of Cobone, is promising attractive deals on accommodation as well as associate local attractions.

Paul Kenny, Co-founder and CEO of Triperna told Emirates 24|7 that the very strong demand for Cobone Destinations, inspired them to create a separate venture.

“The travel market in the Middle East and North Africa is estimated to be at $35 billion with UAE and KSA being the key growth markets in the region,” said Kenny.

He also said that majority of tourists would soon book their travel online. “We foresee the future of the travel industry to be online,” he said.

According to Google’s ‘Traveller’s Road to Decision’ survey, the internet is the number one source for trip planning in the UAE and KSA for both business and leisure. Additionally, 69 per cent of travellers have used smartphones and tablets when planning a trip.

When asked how different Triperna is going to be compared to other similar online platforms, he said, “We offer customers various advantages, including ease of pay – both through credit card and cash payment upon delivery of vouchers, an option to club the room with an additional local leisure activity like a ticket to the water theme park.”

Cobone Destinations was launched in 2011 has since tied up with hundreds of destinations across the world.

Package comparison

A one-bed room apartment at Hotel Royal Residence in Umm al Quwain for example is currently priced at Dh299 for a one-night stay.

You also get a family-sized welcome pizza on arrival and free breakfast. The deal also offers 50 per cent discount on kids meals and 25 per cent off your next visit to the hotel. The booking is valid for two adults and two kids. Additional bed costs Dh50.

Those planning to buy the deal will have to note that you need to call the hotel for availability, if you have a specific date in mind before purchasing the deal.

The package is valid until December 28 and is non-refundable. A two-night stay with 2 Dreamland Aqua Park tickets is priced at Dh659.

In comparison you can book the same room on Booking.com for Dh300 for a day plus five per cent City tax and breakfast included. However, it is only valid for two adults and one child. One Dreamland Aqua Park ticket can be separately purchased for Dh135 for an adult and Dh85 for a child.
