Every dish is an expression of love towards family and friends. Fresh and wholesome ingredients are added, along with a generous helping of love, care, and warmth. This is how, every single day, a house becomes a home.

Maggi's #1spoonless initiative aims to help families around the region relish this love and lead healthier lifestyles by making small, but impactful changes.

By using just one spoon less of salt, sugar and oil, it's possible to reduce a person's risk of diseases and improve their health and wellbeing. Best of all, no one can tell the difference in taste.

There are plenty of healthier options in your kitchen that can make replacing salt, sugar or oil simple. Here are some tips from Valerie Gebara, Nutritionist at Nestlé Middle East, to make this change throughout your day:

Breakfast

* Prepare omelettes with water instead of oil. They are fluffier and taste awesome.

Morning snack

* Bite into fresh fruits rather than pre-packed fruit juice, less sugar and more fibre.

* Replace salted nuts with unsalted raw nuts that are rich in good fats and lower in salt.

Lunch

* Enjoy baked or boiled potatoes with different spices instead of fries. Less oil, same flavour.

Afternoon snack

* Instead of ready-made salty popcorn, try making some at home, flavoured with chilli or paprika!

* Quench your thirst with water instead of sweetened beverages.

Dinner

* Cook fresh or frozen vegetables instead of canned ones. If canned veggies are used, wash them well to remove excess salt.
