Are you losing your sleep over your receding hairline?

With the combination of extreme heat, desalinated water, chlorine content as well as the constant exposure to air conditioning you are most liking to experience hair fall in this region.

Let me assure you - you're not the only one. While genetics, stress, extreme heat, dandruff play a big role, you can still have some control over the situation.

Here, a few things you can do that don't involve lasers or surgery.

Hot oil treatments:

Oiling your hair regularly by mixing three oils, such as castor oil, almond oil and olive oil can keep your hair well- nourished and supply the nutrients it requires.

Heat up the oil a little bit so that it is warm, but not too hot. Massage it gently into your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo your hair.

Apply natural juices:

Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, onion juice, or ginger juice. Make sure you only use 1 of these juices; don't mix them. Leave the juice on your scalp overnight, and wash it out in the morning.

Green tea treatment:

Green tea contains anti-oxidants, which may prevent hair loss and help hair growth.

Brew 2 bags of green tea in 1 cup of water. Let the tea cool slightly, and then apply it to your hair. Leave the tea on for 1 hour. Then, rinse your hair thoroughly.

Fenugreek treatment:

A Fenugreek mask will provide shine and add strength to hair with regular use, helping to keep hair intact.

Soak and grind one cup of fenugreek seeds with sufficient water to make a paste. Apply to the scalp and massage it lightly.  Leave it for 20 mins to half an hour. Rinse out with cold water.

Get a head massage:

Massaging your scalp for a few minutes daily will help stimulate circulation. Good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Circulation may be improved through massage by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base.

Eat healthy:

This may sound cliché but believe me hair needs nutrients to grow and be healthy.

Walnuts contain Omega 6 fatty acids, they're also full of zinc, B vitamins and iron. Eating almonds after soaking them overnight is also a good way to prevent hair-loss. Carrots are a great source of Vitamin A and provide nourishment to your scalp.

Eggs with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids can be the best thing for your hair.

Dry hair naturally:

Limit your use of hair dryers. Heat weakens hair proteins. Constant heating and drying can lead to brittleness and fragility that can cause hair loss that would not have occurred otherwise. Natural drying is best for you hair, so aim to dry it naturally more often than drying it with heat.

If you do use heated tools be careful, because burnt scalps can permanently damage hair follicles.

Few Tips:

- Steer clear of cigarettes and avoid direct/intense sun.

- A healthy diet and a high water intake help to keep the hair healthy and therefore limits the hair fall.

- Drinking at least two litres of water a day is essential as it helps to keep the skin and hair hydrated.

- Avoiding excess salt and food with a high fat content.
