The Ministerial Council for Services (MCS) has held a meeting to discuss a system that requires potential expatriates to do medical tests in their home countries prior to landing in the UAE where they will have to do the same tests again upon arrival in the UAE for the first time and at applying for renewal of their UAE residence permits.

Those potential expatriates include applicants for residence and work in the UAE.

The meeting was chaired by sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Council.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mansour gave directives to the Ministry of Health to issue executive decisions to put the said system in place and ensure all expatriates and residents are free from contagious diseases.

Also discussed by MCS were reports on progress on the implementation of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The council approved equal treatment of citizens of GCC member states at UAE's vocational institutes and polytechnics, a recommended distribution of representation to international organisation between the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Economy.
