How you can ‘try out’ different outfits in public at Abu Dhabi’s new mall

Shoppers at The Galleria, Abu Dhabi’s newest mall located on Al Maryah Island, recently enjoyed a unique experience – they were able to try out different outfits in the full glare of the public, without the need to visit the trial room.

Nope, they hadn’t lost their civic sense – a new technology was a work, with full-body projection that allowed them to try on the outfits generated by a stylist without having to disrobe.

Thanks to Engage Production (www.engageproduction.com), specialist in interactive technologies for branded environments, the new Virtual Style Pod allowed shoppers at The Galleria “try on” complete outfits without ever having to disrobe. The Fashion Pod was available from September 22 to October 5, 2013.

A technologically advanced system, the Pod brings together the virtual and physical worlds by combining a life-size screen mirror which overlays the user’s image with incredibly realistic 3D renders of clothing, the world’s first 3D clothing simulation.

It enables users to quickly create outfits by mixing and matching a wide range of garments from the host’s inventory.

“It’s a ground-breaking way of providing an additional touch-point for brands to reach their customers and differentiate the experience they provide,” says Steve Blyth, Managing Director of Engage. “The experience itself could expand sales, boost revenues, and brand advocacy by encouraging customers to buy more.”

The pod is built by Engage, with software by Space3D in partnership with Avant garde.

Built by Engage, with Space3D in partnership to create the software and Avantgarde responsible for concept and hosting, the Virtual Style Pod provides a fresh and exciting engagement alternative within the live event and retail sector and should be considered a powerful new weapon in the battle to innovate and reinvigorate the experiential marketing sector.

The Virtual Style Pod provides a fresh and exciting alternative to the traditional dressing room, engaging visitors and empowering them to shop at a higher level of style and trend setting.

Mobile engagement and social media allows hosts to further increase conversions through follow up marketing activities such as sending users selective reminders about items they ‘tried on’ and related marketing materials.

“The Virtual Style Pod is a terrific tool for brand reinforcement because it increases engagement and dwell time,” comments Steve Blyth, managing director of Engage. “It’s a ground-breaking way of providing an additional touch-point for brands to reach their customers and differentiate the experience they provide.”
