Dubai feasts on two ‘Best hotel restaurants’ around the world

Despite being home to world-class dining destinations and three-star Michelin chef-run restaurants that pepper Dubai’s growing hotel industry, the Jumeirah Group bagged the region’s only two awards to make it to the ‘101 Best Hotel Restaurants Around the World’ list.

Burj Al Arab still reigned supreme with its seafood speciality outlet, Al Mahara; meanwhile, The Rib Room steakhouse in Jumeirah Emirates Towers won the other accolade.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7 about the win, a spokesperson from Jumeirah Group said: “At Jumeirah we are delighted with this recognition, especially given our increased focus on showcasing our expertise in the culinary arts. ”

‘Focus on service’ is one of the primary reasons the organically grown hotel group edge managed to edge out stiffer competition, the spokesperson stated

They added: “It must be a combination of their location, their culinary excellence, and their focus on service.”

Planned out makeovers and upgrades boost a restaurant’s image and keeps it fresh, with the spokesperson revealing: “Al Mahara recently updated its menu, while The Rib Room underwent an extensive refurbishment last year.

“Without a doubt, The Rib Room is considered as one of the best steakhouses in Dubai, while Al Mahara is recognised as a seafood restaurant with a romantic setting.

“It is interesting to note that both restaurants offer private meeting rooms for small groups, which are quite popular with businesspeople for power lunches or dinners.”

Several new restaurants are planned additions to the Jumeirah Group portfolio, with the spokesperson adding: “With the recent opening of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Dubai, we have several new restaurants either in soft opening or opening soon, such as Nomad and Blue Flame.

“In Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers is bringing new and exciting outlets to the Abu Dhabi culinary scene; in the past few weeks they opened Angelique, a French brasserie, and Tori No Su, a Japanese restaurant; and they will soon launch the first UAE outlet of Scott’s, a seafood restaurant brand that is quite well famous in the UK.

“We are also very active with the global expansion of our home-grown restaurant franchises, with the Noodle House opening in The Dubai Mall and soon entering Russia, Morocco and the UK; and now the Italian-themed restaurant Urbano opening soon in Turkey and in several countries in the GCC.”

Based in the United States, The Daily Meal is considered one of the largest and highest quality resources for food and drink information and inspiration on the internet.

The List, described as ‘a carefully curated collection of the world’s most exemplary hotel feasts’, was compiled through recommendations from The Daily Meal’s editors, who have travelled extensively around the world, and by consulting various trusted sources such as the Michelin Guide.

The List includes restaurants from six continents, 40 countries and nations, and more than 80 cities.

Al Mahara and The Rib Room are the only two outlets selected from the GCC, and appear next to internationally recognised hotel restaurants such as Alain Ducasse at Plaza Athenee Hotel (Paris) and Joel Robuchon Restaurant at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino (Las Vegas).
