PS4 stocks wiped out in UAE; premium rules

There is a scramble for the Sony PlayStation 4 across the UAE as stocks run out at all stores across the country.

Stores are informing customers that they can still preorder the console, but should not expect deliveries before Christmas.

But you can fetch one for yourself the very next day, on December 26, from Virgin Megastore, if you pre-order now.

“Our first set of stocks arrived on Friday and we [have] already distributed it to the first set of pre-order customers. Our next set will arrive on December 26,” said a sales representative at Virgin Megastore at the Burjuman Centre in Dubai.

It is a similar story at Sharaf DG as well. The store has partially supplied to those who had initially pre-ordered, even as fresh stocks are being awaited. “We are distributing it in phases. Not all those who pre-ordered have received their sets yet,” said a sales staff.

But pay about Dh1,000 more, and you can easily get your PlayStation 4 in the UAE today. PlayStation 4 is currently priced at around Dh1,600 but you can find one on online classifieds sites like Souq, Dubizzle and others for between Dh2,500 and Dh2,800. Dubizzle even has postings of a couple of PS4s for Dh2,100.

PlayStation 4 was officially released in Europe and Latin America on November 29, and has been available (pending supply constraints), since this Friday, December 13.

Retailers also told Emirates 24|7 that the consoles will not be available for sale across the counter until January 2014.
