Rain in UAE: Hot five fashion tips for desert winter wear

The drop of temperatures as rain lashes several parts of the UAE and a little nip in the air when you open the window are definite signs of approaching winter chill.

And just because it is cold outside doesn't mean you can't have as much fun dressing up as you did during the warmer months.

It always helps to layer yourself well to brace the winter chill.

But it's important that you do so without adding bulk.

Here are few tips on how to be warm but still look chic during the cold season:

Dress in layers:

Use many thin, warm layers rather than a few thick layers. It will insulate better and allow you to strip off layers if the temperature climbs.

Wear a base layer:

Leggings followed by your trouser or jeans. A 'base layer' is long johns, union suit, long underwear, or whatever can provide a warm, light base to your winter gear. Alternatively, wear fleece leggings with a pair of colourful leg warmers, which will also add your style statement.

Balance your outfit:

Tight clothing does not trap any heat, whereas loose clothing allows for more insulation. Tight-fitting sweater dresses are only made for fashion. For a leaner look, style your looser, upper body winter clothes with fitted clothing on the lower body.

Warm scarves and caps:

Scarves knitted, made of wool, polyester, and velvet and are very warm materials you can wear over your regular clothing inside or outside. Polyester throws are extremely soft and very comfortable and plush. Keep these fashion scarves stylish and colourful.

Boots to survive:

Wear longer walking boots during the day and heeled boots when you are off for a party. Great winter style really boils down to a great pair of boots. Over-the-knee boots works perfectly with a short dress. Ankle boots can be paired with cuffed jeans or a dress.
