Weeks after the One & Only Hotel opened its doors on the Palm Jumeirah, luxury hospitality label Jumeirah has upped the ante.

The Dubai-based hotel chain will welcome guests to its new five-star Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on January 4, it said in a statement to media on Monday.

The news follows an agreement with Zabeel Properties, a subsidiary of Zabeel Investments. Rumours of an agreement have been circulating for months now – and the final deal was the talk of Christmas parties across the emirate – but the news has only just been officially confirmed.

The group has already begun marketing rooms at the beachside resort, with launch prices on its website beginning from Dh1,500 ++ per night.

January 4 is the anniversary of the accession of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

January will also see the opening of the emirate’s second Ritz-Carlton hotel, situated in the Dubai International Financial Centre, as Emirates 24|7 reported.

With 405 rooms and 38 opulent villas inspired by the heyday of the Ottoman empire, the property features hand-painted frescoes, Turkish artworks and lavish murals. At the heart of the property is a 42-room spa, to be operated by inhouse subsidiary Talise. At 8,000 square metres, it is believed to be the largest spa in the region.

The hotel also hosts a theatre and event centre, 10 new restaurants and bars, a nightclub, boutiques and an extensive selection of sports and leisure activities.

It is the first Zabeel Properties hotel to open its doors in Dubai, the statement said.
