UAE Eid Holidays: Last-minute airline deals

Eid Al Fitr holidays for private sector employees have been announced, with the first and second of Shawwal 1437 AH to be official paid holidays for all employees in the private sector.

With the first day of Shawwal expected to be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 (subject to moon sighting), this would mean an extended four-day break for the private sector.

With a good extended weekend holiday coming up, many residents in the country are looking at airfares to take advantage of the long Eid break.

With the Eid break coinciding with the start of school holidays this year, most flight tickets have already been snapped up.

However, there are some airlines offering last-minute deals to entice undecided passengers.

If you book with Etihad Airways by today, under its Summer Escape deals, you can fly to select destination from Abu Dhabi at special fares. The travel is permitted between June 22 until August 31 of this year, coinciding with the upcoming Eid break in the UAE.

Qatar Airways is running their special Eid offers, which ends on June 29. It promises savings on economy and business class fares for travel period valid from June 22 to December 15, 2016.

Flydubai is also running its special promotion under which you can fly to its European destinations from only Dh1,100 return. The offer includes economy class fare if you book by noon today for travel between July 1 and September 30, 2016.

Air Arabia has its hottest flights in July offers on. This covers fares to several of the popular destinations that the airline flies to.

The UAE Cabinet has announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for Ministries and Federal entities, starting from 28 of Ramadan 1437 Hijri year, corresponding to Sunday, July 3, with work resuming on Sunday, July 10, 2016.

So, the public sector employees will have nine-day holidays from July 1 to July 9 – including two weekends.
