Ken Block, the famous American rally driver, smokes and drifts his way through Dubai, in one of his most memorable stunts in March 2016.

Dubai stars in what is Block's eighth edition of Gymkhana viral video series that has already received more than 350 million views worldwide. Gymkhana videos are, in fact, the largest viral video series in the automotive industry.

The video was a collaborative effort by Ford Performance, XDubai (a local company which deals with extreme sports and activities in the emirate) and Hoonigan Industries, which is into apparel brand for auto enthusiasts.

A rally driver by profession with the Hoonigan Racing Division, Block drove his way through Dubai's desert, to the emirate's world renowned landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Road to Palm Jumeirah to Downtown Dubai.

Daredevil stuntman drove an updated version of his world-famous Ford Fiesta ST RX43 rallycross car during Gymkhana 8.

This is only the second time in history of Gymkhana series that Block has pulled off a stunt on camera outside the United States. According to a blog on Hooniganracing.com, Gymkhana three was shot on a 'unique racetrack in France'.

Block was quoted in the blog after the stunt driving in the emirate as saying: “I realize it sounds cliché to say it, but this is probably my favorite Gymkhana thus far.”

“When XDubai reached out to partner with me as a sponsor last season, one of the things they brought to the table was the ability for us to come and have carte blanche in terms of filming a Gymkhana video in Dubai. The offer was amazing since I had identified Dubai as a location where I’d like to film something a few years prior, so of course I jumped at the opportunity.

"The fact that we were able to shut down the Sheik Zayed Road for only the second time in the history of Dubai [the road is the main highway in Dubai and has only been fully shut down once previously, when President George W. Bush visited in 2008], have access to a fully shutdown airport runway with a 747 and to be able to film in Burj Park, which is part of the world’s tallest building [the Burj Khalifa] is absolutely awesome.

"Now would be a great time for me to be able to say a huge heartfelt thank you to the people of Dubai for letting us come and make this awesome video, so, thank you!”

Dubai Police' fleet of supercars also participated in Gymkhana 8.
