The unique pieces from independent jewellery designers from Saudi Arabia, China and the UAE were on display at the recently concluded three-day exhibition.

Golden abayas, burqas were among those displayed by professional designers for commercial buyers.

“New shoes made of gold will be the diamond of our collection. With the use of the most precious material, gold, platinum and silver, the gold shoes is a unique fashion designer wear for the region,” said an official of A & V Edoardo Vietri, an Italian company.

Among the 400 brands from 25 countries exhibited during the event included nickel-free body piercing jewellery, hand-engraved jewellery, handmade bracelets, chains, necklaces and pieces of art.

“There is always a demand for such high-end and heavy jewellery during the wedding seasons and for collectors. It is mainly the jewellery collectors who buy golden jackets or shoes made with gold or other heavy ornaments,” said Syam Lal, Managing Director, Malabar Gold and Diamonds
