For the sixth consecutive year, the number of UAE students enrolled at US higher education institutions in the 2015-16 academic year grew to 2,920, a 1.5 percent increase from the previous year’s figure.

According to the Open Doors 2016 Report, published by the Institute of International Education, IIE, the number of Emirati high school graduates pursuing higher education studies in the United States grew once again in the 2015-16 academic year, up 2.8 percent over the previous year.

Student mobility has increased as a result of government scholarships available at the graduate and undergraduate levels, both locally and overseas. The Guidance and Scholarship Division of the Abu Dhabi Education and Knowledge Department offers students from the UAE the opportunity to gain international knowledge and experience through a host of scholarships designed to support their academic studies abroad.

UAE scholarship granting institutions have developed strategies to reach students during high school, raising awareness of potential education opportunities. Approved scholarship majors are targeted to meet the country’s growing economic and market needs.

To help achieve this goal, the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi will host representatives from 28 American universities at this year’s NAJAH Fair. In a dedicated EducationUSA pavilion at NAJAH, visitors will be offered educational advising to guide them on studying in the United States. EducationUSA is the US State Department’s official source of information on higher education.

The NAJAH Fair will be held from October 25th to 27th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC.
