The Court of First Instance in Hammersmith, London, in a summary trial, has ordered the detaining of the suspects in the case of the recent attack on the three UAE sisters in London, and referred them to trial before the criminal court next Thursday.

The main suspect in the said case, Philip Spence, a British national, was charged by the court with attempted murder and theft (burglary), while the other suspects were charged with the possession of stolen properties with intent to sell them.

A delegation from Abu Dhabi Police attended the summary trial yesterday.

"As part of the attention the wise leadership gives to nationals both in the UAE and overseas, the embassy has promptly moved to action on orders from Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, to provide all it takes to the family and its members who are in the British capital, to help them and provide a safe residence for them in London until the investigation into the case is over," said the UAE Ambassador to the UK, Abdul Rehman Ghanem Al Mutaiwei, in a statement.

"The accident received the attention of the leadership and all sectors in UAE. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has dispatched a team from Abu Dhabi Police which provided psychological support to the victims, and ordered coordination with the British police on arresting the suspects and bringing them to justice as soon as possible."

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, accompanied by Sheikh Marwan bin Rashid Al Mualla, Chairman of Lands and Property Department in the Emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain, visited the mother of the three sisters at her residence to get updated on their condition. Earlier, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan also visited the mother of the three victims.

Ambassador Al Mutaiwei noted that the highest levels of British authorities have given their total attention to the attack and that UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and his British counterpart had directly followed up the case.

The UAE ambassador said that during his visits to them at the hospital to get updated on their condition and follow up on their treatment, the two sisters, Fatima and Kholoud, expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the wise leadership of UAE, and to Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister in particular, for his interest in harnessing all capabilities in order to protect their safety, through constant contact with the Embassy team dedicated to following up the situation, contact with British authorities and providing protection and facilities for them and their families.

They also expressed their gratitude for the interest of sheikhs and officials in visiting them and in emphasising that the UAE always honours its responsibility towards its nationals.
