About 5,000 tickets for the exclusive draw to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the Dubai Duty Free is sold out.

According to today’s value the gold price is worth Dh2.35 million.

“The draw will be held between 11am and 12'oclock. All 500 tickets have been sold out already,” said a customer support executive at the Dubai Duty Free.

Dubai Duty Free is celebrating its 28th anniversary on December 20 and has planned various promotions as part of the programme. All those shopping at any of the Dubai duty free outlets will be able to avail 25 per cent discount today.

The one-off offer began at midnight on Decemeber 19 night and will end at midnight on Tuesday (December 20).

Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice-Chairman of Dubai Duty Free, said: “The anniversary discount offer, which began with Dubai Duty Free’s 20th Anniversary in 2003, proved to be so popular that we have decided to continue this offer once again this year. We see this as our way of saying thank you to our customers who have helped Dubai Duty Free to achieve such fantastic sales results over the years.”

“In 2010, when we offered 25 per cent discount to mark our 27th anniversary on the 20th December, our sales soared to Dhs66.7 million (US$18.5 million) so we are looking forward to seeing if that figure can be topped this year," added McLoughlin.

Among the other main raffle draws for the day are a Millennium Millionaire, a Finest Surprise Luxury Car draw and a series of other promotional activities that will involve travellers and staff.

Dubai Duty Free opened for business on December 20, 1983, with 100 employees and today has to more 4,000 staff from 47 nationalities.
