After making her debut with fun comedy ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’, filmmaker Reema Kagti is all set for the release of her suspense drama ‘Talaash’.
Talking exclusively to Emirates24|7, she recalls how the script for ‘Talaash’ had been soon after ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, and much before her debut and Zoya’s maiden ‘Luck by Chance’.
At that point, co-writers Reema and Zoya had sold the story to Excel Entertainment (co-owned by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani).
The women soon left on holiday but when they returned they felt they were a bit short-sighted and wanted to buy back their idea. “We even tried talking Farhan into giving it back to us but he wouldn’t budge,” she said.
They both went on to make their movies, only to return to strike a deal with Excel about making ‘Talaash’ into a film. “I told them I loved the script and asked whether I could do it for Excel? They agreed, and that is when Zoya and I wrote the screenplay.”
