The singing reality show Indian Idol Junior concluded with Anjana Padmanabhan emerging as winner of its first season.

The show had started with 86 contestants from across India.

10-year-old Anjana Padmanabhan from Bengaluru was crowned as the winner by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Anjana, the first Indian Idol Junior, received prize money of Rs.25 lakh from Sony Entertainment Television, a Nissan Micra Car, a fixed deposit of Rs.five lakhs from Kotak and Rs.two Lakh from Horlicks.

Debanjana Mitra, Anmol Jaswal and Nirvesh Dave secured the first and the second runners-up positions respectively.

Modelled along the lines of the widely watched American Idol, the Indian chapter, which began broadcasting on cable television in June of this year, gave a platform to children between eight and 15 years to wow celebrity judges and a national audience with their powerful vocals.

A student at Delhi Public School in Bangalore, Anjana said her teachers and friends have been very supportive of her musical journey.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan was thrilled and overwhelmed with the talented kids participating in Indian Idol.
