At around noon a small fire at Dubai Mall caught shoppers unaware. Mall management immediately evacuate the premises.
Dubai Media Office in a statement on Twitter said, "Fire in one of the restaurants at Dubai Mall has been brought under control".
Smoke can be seen billowing out from the roof of the mall.
Smoke engulfed the roof of the mall. No injuries have been reported.
An immediate announcement was made and the mall was evacuated. Shoppers were asked to take the nearest exit.
Shoppers who witnessed the smoke posted pictures on social networking sites.
