Happy Birthday, Ranbir Kapoor

Published

Bollywood heartthrobe Ranbir Kapoor will turn 30 on September 28. But the actor does not like to celebrate his birthday!

Ranbir's mother Neetu Kapoor Ranbir is very shy and he finds celebrations extravagant affairs.

Ranbir will be working and has no plans to celebrate. Here's a look at Ranbir's journey in Bollywood.

Ranbir got his big break in Bollywood in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2007 opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor.

The film failed to do well at the box office, though his performance was largely appreciated.

Along with his performance, his romance with another newcomer Deepika Padukone hit the headlines. The two were open about the romance and painted the town red.

They starred together in a romantic comedy 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. The film was a semi-hit at the box-office.

Kapoor appear in Ayan Mukerji's 'Wake Up Sid', where he portrayed a spoiled and self-centered college student. The film was a critical and commercial success.

He next starred alongside Katrina Kaif in 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', which surfaced as one of the biggest hits of the year.

The movie witnessed the two actors get close to each other. Soon Deepika faded in the background and rumours about Ranbir-Katrina affair became stronger. Both the stars till date maintained that they are just friends. Looks like Ranbir learnt a lesson after the much publicised affair and break-up with Deepika Padukone.

Following 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', Kapoor appeared in Shimit Amin's drama 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year'. Upon release, the film received positive reviews by critics but declared 'below average'. Kapoor's performance was critically acclaimed.

Then came the multi-starrer political thriller 'Rajneeti'. Ranbir leaped for it. The film opened to positive reviews and was declared a "blockbuster".

His performance was well received with critics concluding that the film belongs to Ranbir Kapoor who perfects the art of minimalism – and literally grows before your eyes – as the simmering volcano that cannot be held back, once it erupts. He's as grey and soot-filled, as volcanoes go.

Kapoor appeared alongside Priyanka Chopra in Siddharth Anand's 'Anjaana Anjaani' which was a moderate box office success. Along came another rumour of a link-up between Priyanka and Ranbir which gradually fizzled out.

2011 saw Kapoor feature opposite newcomer Nargis Fakhri in Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar'. This was the turning point in his career and everyone took notice of the actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The film, upon release, met with positive to mixed reviews. 'Rockstar' was Ranbir's movie over everyone else. It was a riveting performance.

His 'Rockstar' performance was applauded and was recognised with awards from every corner.

Ranbir appeared in Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!' alongside Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz which got him rave reviews for his performance as a deaf-mute boy from critics and as well as the audience.

'Barfi!' has been chosen as India's entry to the Academy Awards in the best foreign language film category, the Film Federation of India (FFI).

Here's wishing this talented Kapoor boy a very happy birthday!
