Ramadan in UAE: Emirates Steel distributes iftar meals

In keeping with the spirit of caring during the holy month of Ramadan, Emirates Steel, the largest integrated steelmaker in the UAE, owned by Senaat, distributed Food stock basket to several hundred laborers at the industrial area in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. Several of its employees packed and distributed meal boxes to the workers breaking their fasts.

In keeping with the spirit of giving during the holy month of Ramadan, the students of Omar Bin Al Khattab Pakistani Islamia High School in Ajman decided to give back to the community by creating, delivering, and donating over 300 iftar boxes to labor camps in the Ajman Industrial Area.

Even though the overwhelming majority of the student body comes from a disadvantaged background, students were keen to do something to give back to those who have even less. To help uplift the community during the month of Ramadan, 500 students across all grades came together to pack over 300 boxes of delicious iftar to deliver to laborers in the nearby camps who would need to break their fast after a long day.

Iftar with orphans

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA) hosted 30 orphaned children for Iftar at its traditional Al Marjan Tent, as part of its ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of life of the emirate’s residents.

The Iftar was hosted in collaboration with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare (YSA), following the positive reaction by the children to last year’s Iftar with the Ministry of Health.

Emirati celebrities' iftar with children

Emirati celebrities delighted children during the Emirates Red Crescent iftar held at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

The stars names included popular Emirati singers Fayez Al Saeed and Faisal Jassim, as well as the poet Saud Al-Musabi.

Actress Samira Ahmad and popular media influencers Ali Alsaloom and Manal Ahmed were also amongst the guests.

Al Qasba treats fatherless children for Ramadan

Al Qasba treated fatherless children during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. Sharjah’s premier leisure and family destination commemorated Zayed Humanitaria Day with special gift packages for children.

Le Méridien Dubai had celebrated ‘Iftar for Cabs’ campaign. During the hour of Iftar, packs of food and beverages were distributed to cab drivers and construction workers.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts celebrated iftar with taxi drivers across the United Arab Emirates as a part of its seventh annual ‘iftar for cabs’ and its ongoing commitment to the month of Ramadan.

This year’s initiative brought 48 hotels from across the Middle East, 26 of which were in the UAE, together for the worthy cause.

Individually packed iftar packs were prepared by hotels, which included a selection of food and beverage items.

The iftar packs were then distributed to cab drivers at the main entrance of each hotel with the help of various members across the different departments of the properties, in celebration of the spirit of the month of Ramadan.

Launched in 2010, the ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative has turned into an annual tradition for many cab drivers throughout the region. The initiative has also been widely appreciated by hotel owners, local communities and transport authorities.

Corp Amman Hotel organized a special iftar for orphaned children from Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein in Jordan on June 12, 2016.

Over 60 children were welcomed to enjoy a delicious meal caringly prepared by the chefs at the hotel.

Nizam Bou Antoun, General Manager of Corp Amman Hotel, said, “Ramadan is a month of sharing our blessings with one and all, especially the less fortunate and vulnerable kids. We are delighted to support and welcome children from Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein which is doing a phenomenal job for society. It is wonderful to see the beautiful smiles on the innocent faces of those children who have gone through enormous hardships and, have been deprived the love and care of their parents. It is our privilege to have had them as our very special guests.”

Apart from a lavish iftar meal, the children were entertained with a an array of exciting activities.

Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein was established in 1958 as a learning and care institution for orphans and children living in hardship.

At the centre, these orphans or kids coming from broken homes or impoverished families are provided with a safe environment and learning opportunities

Du and Tarahum were overwhelmed with the support their Mawaed Al Rahman initiative received from both the individual and corporate communities around the UAE.

Over 1000 volunteers contributed to ensure that 12,000 reusable, environmentally friendly boxes were packed with essential Ramadan ingredients to ensure a healthy, home cooked Iftar meal for over 10,000 families this Holy month.

The massive support from UAE volunteers ensured that all the boxes were packed ahead of schedule and are now ready for distribution.
