As many as 10 applicants of residency visa in Ajman were found HIV positive when they were subjected to the customary pre-visa medical examinations, according to the statistics revealed by the Preventive Medicine of Ajman Medical zone.

Among the AIDS patients, who were sent back home, five were women, Arabic daily Al Ittihad reported.

The stats also revealed the number of other applicants who were denied visa on medical grounds and sent back home in the first half of this year.

The campaign was inaugurated and launched by Hamad Trim Al Shamsi, Director of Ajman Medical Zone and Director of Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, in the presence of Ahmed Obaid Al Hashemi Manager of Ajman for Preventive Medicine Complex, and officials of the Dubai Police General Headquarters.
