According to the results of a recent survey conducted by Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm, about 69 per cent subscribers changed their mobile operator and moved from Etisalat to du.

Meanwhile, 31 per cent of those surveyed moved from du to Etisalat, the poll revealed.

About 5,000 readers participated in the Emarat Al Youm survey, which asked the readers to reveal if they had changed their mobile phone operator and to give the details if they answered in the affirmative.

The poll results matched the first quarter results of both operators, the daily said. While du witnessed growth in Q1, 2011 with 23 per cent rise in subscriber base.

Etisalat saw a 10.08 per cent decline during the same period.

While the CEO of du, Othman Sultan, confirmed the authenticity of the poll, another source from Etisalat who prefered to remain anonymous was skeptical about the poll findings and termed it incorrect.
