Over 90 per cent of UAE residents are satisfied with the city or area they live in, according to the latest survey by Abu Dhabi Gallup Centre (ADGC).

The country is a very safe place to live and crime is rare, with 95 per cent of the total population saying they have not had money or property stolen from them in the last 12 months.

However, residents expressed less satisfaction with housing. Overall, under half of the country’s residents said they are satisfied with the availability of good, affordable housing in the city or area where they live.

The survey also revealed that over 50 per cent of UAE residents rate their lives to be “thriving” compared to other residents in GCC and the rest of the countries in the Arab League.

Respondents also expressed much greater satisfaction with the transportation infrastructure in the country now than in previous years.

Eighty-four per cent of the residents said they are satisfied with public transportation systems in the country, versus 54 per cent who said this in 2009.

UAE residents also gave high satisfaction rating with the country’s roads and highway particularly in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The UAE also received high rankings in other areas that determine how satisfied people feel with their lives. For instance, 89 per cent of people in the UAE say they are satisfied with their health, with 14 per cent of people self-reporting health problems.

Moreover, 80 per cent of people living in the UAE are satisfied with the availability of quality healthcare, with Emiratis being satisfied in slightly higher numbers than non-Emiratis.

The majority of UAE residents, 78 per cent, also said they are satisfied with the educational system or schools in the cities or areas where they live.
