Apple take ‘Note’: Samsung may leap series to rival iPhone 7

The announcement of the next Galaxy Note could come a bit early and Samsung could well skip a series in its efforts to take on rival Apple.

If the latest rumours are anything to go by, the South Korean tech firm which seceded in its strategy last year by advancing the release of its Note 5 may well do something even more interesting in its fight against the iPhone.

While the next possible naming pattern of the Note would naturally be Note 6, it appears that Samsung could be toying with the idea of calling the next flagship 'Note 7'.

While Samsung released the Galaxy Note in September, it advanced the release to August last year giving the product enough shelf life and the required lead time ahead of the iPhone release.

Meanwhile, August 2 is also being tipped as the launch date for Note 7.

According to reports, Samsung has already listed a product page for 'SM-N920F' which most probably will be the next Note.

Meanwhile, in terms of rumoured specs, the Note 7 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch screen with QHD display and possibly re-introduce edge screen on both sides of the new Note.

The device is expected to come equipped with various sensors including one that will be powerful enough to act as an IRIS scanner, thereby eliminating the need for a fingerprint sensor.

The device will be powered by Snapdragon 823 chipset and 6GB of RAM.

The camera is expected to remain the same as that on the Galaxy S6 with dual pixel technology. There are also reports that Samsung could incorporate dual cameras into the new Note. It should be noted that HTC introduced dual camera into the HTC10 while LG did the same with the G5.

Huawei too introduced the same into the P9.

Amidst reports that Apple plans to do the same with the 2017  edition of the iPhone, Samsung might well go on to introduce the feature first with the Note 7 and introduce it onto the Galaxy S7 next year.
