Arsenal, Spurs’ reveal Jan targets: Wenger vs AVB

The transfer frenzy at White Hart Lane will be watched with some angst by fans over at the Emirates.

Should Tottenham not finish above Arsenal, at the very least, there will be chants from the terrace of how Andre Villas-Boas could not out-do Arsenal even after spending crazy.

However, should Spurs manage to do better than Arsenal, the chants will be at the other end – of how it is business as usual for Wenger.

Which is why, perhaps, it is worth noting that both AVB and Wenger are already hinting at their targets for the January window.

According to the Mirror, Tottenham have made enquiries about Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso as a January transfer target.

The report prices Brazil international Ganso, 22, at £8m, but states a complex third party ownership issue in his contract could be an issue.

Spurs missing out on Joao Moutinho has sparked the move for Ganso.

On the other hand, Wenger has claimed that Niklas Bendtner will return and lead the line at Arsenal.

The Denmark striker, 24, is on after spending last season at Sunderland.

Wenger said: “It is not for nothing that I loaned him to Juventus. He is a talented player. There he will grow and then return to my team.

We have not sold him, only loaned him, and next year we will bring him home. I think he can resolve his problems with us and prove himself.”
