Kuwait police arrested a Bangladeshi man for illegally staying in the oil-rich Gulf emirate for nearly 19 years, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Police caught the man during separate raids on suspected houses of illegal migrants in the capital Kuwait City and other areas, the Arabic language daily ‘Al Watan’ said.
“The raids were part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal migrants from South Asia and other countries. A Bangladeshi was arrested after he was found to be staying in Kuwait illegally for nearly 19 years,” it said.
Expatriates caught staying in Kuwait illegally are jailed for a short period before they are deported to their home countries.
