Saudi doctors saved the life of an eight-month-old boy after he swallowed a small plastic ball that blocked his respiratory system. The boy was rushed to hospital in the central Buraydah town after his parents noticed he could hardly breathe and his face was turning blue and pale.

“The boy was brought to hospital with his heart hardly beating…doctors raced against time to save his life after succeeding in pulling the ball out of his throat,” Sada daily said.

Baby found inside Saudi washing centre

Residents of a Saudi town heading for prayers at a mosque stumbled across a newborn boy dumped inside a washing centre adjoining the mosque.

The baby was found inside a box and his feet were stamped apparently by a hospital where the mother delivered, newspapers said.

Residents of the neighbourhood in the eastern port of Dammam called the police and ambulance which took the boy to a nearby hospital to check his condition.

Sabq daily quoted a police spokesman as saying investigation focuses on identifying the baby and his parents.
