Bollywood heartbroken over Sanjay Dutt's conviction

Sanjay Dutt has been sentenced to five years jail term for illegal possession of weapon in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He was arrested in 1993 and has already spent 18 months behind bars. His sentence has been reduced from six years to five years.
 
The actor has to surrender within four weeks and he is no longer allowed to carry on shooting for films.
 
Sanjay's sister, Priya Dutt, broke down in court when the sentence was read out.
 
The actor will have to spend about 3.5 years in jail as he has already served 1.5 years in jail.
 
The actor is married and has two kids (twins) by his third wife, Manyata. He also has a grown up daughter, Trishala, by his first wife, who passed away a few years ago.
 
Bollywood stars took to social networking site, Twitter, to convey their support to the actor. While not questioning the Indian Supreme Court's decision, they are heart-broken over the conviction.

Karan Johar: "I am truly shattered to hear of Sanju's sentence...the nicest guy i have known just doesnt deserve this...my heart goes out to him...."

Vishal Dadlani:  "I stand with Sanjay Dutt, always will. He's my brother. He made mistakes, but he's served more than his time, in terms of mental stress."

Dabbu Ratnani: “Shattered to Hear about Sanjay Dutt ...Love Him...He is Like My Elder Brother & has a Pure Heart of Gold. God give Him Strength Sanjay Dutt

Mahesh Bhatt: "Heart Broken: Just heard that Sanjay Dutt has to go to jail for 5 years. I expected mercy! Alas it did not happen."

Singer Shweta Pandit: “All I can say is Sanjay Dutt is indeed one of the most loving & nicer people i've met in the industry. This sentence is just too harsh!”

Suchitra Pillai: “20 yrs later Sanjay Dutt paying the price for his folly. May God give strenght to him and his family.”

Pritish Nandy: “Sad for Sanjay Dutt. He is paying for what was an act of folly. He is no traitor. He made a mistake. He is paying for it. Hugely.”

Arshad Warsi: "I am numb, I don't know what to say. Sanjay Dutt is not a criminal. This is too harsh a decision."
