Boy tries to stab mum for taking away mobile phone

A 15-year old boy from the Indian state of Maharashtra tried to stab his mother after she turned off the computer and confiscated his cell phone.

The student spent hours on his phone making friends on social networking sites and messaging apps and had over 500 such friends whom he had never met, The Times of India reported.

When his 47-year-old mother, who is a teacher tried to get him rid of this he went berserk and tried to stab her.

Hearing her screams, the boy’s dad who is 50-years-old rushed into the room and save the mother.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where he threw a fit at his parents’ decision and protested by taking his clothes off.

Doctors in the hospital concluded that the boy had become so hooked to his online life and friends that he lost his mental balance.

In the hospital, he underwent electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), commonly known as shock treatment, and returned to Pune.

Three more sessions of ECT are still pending.
