Campers' alert: New Dubai winter location

The Building Department of Dubai Municipality (DM) has changed the winter camping location from Al Warqa to Al Aweer in order to improve the camping services provided by the department for the public during winter season, DM has said in a media statement. 

“We discussed the proposed plan with our strategic partners including Dubai Police and Civil Defense for the coming season, which starts in October and decided to change the location of camping from Al Warqa to Al Aweer as it meets all safety and environmental requirements,” said Khalid Mohamed Saleh, Director, Building Department, DM.

The meeting also resolved to honour the owner of best winter camp that meets all environmental and safety requirements in order to encourage people to comply with rules and regulations in place.

The winter camping requirements were previously announced via local media and in instruction boards in areas of these camps as follows: -

* Camps should be for temporary private use during the winter and not allowed to be leased or used by third parties.

* Should comply with the law, norms, customs and traditions in force in the Emirate of Dubai.

* It must be used in accordance with the limits described in the permission and wall or fence are not allowed around the site.

* A copy of the permission should be placed in a visible place on the tent to show the municipal inspectors upon request.

* Camps should be built using temporary materials and provided with fire extinguisher.

* The site must be kept clean and not allowed to throw or remove or transfer waste by camp owner in the camp site or designated areas.

* Use proper tools in barbecue and campfire and do not leave residues and charcoal of barbecue in camp site or damage the desert environment.

* Do not use floodlights and amplifiers, respect the privacy of others and not to disturb others.

* The security amount will be seized in case of breach of any condition of the permit.

* The municipality has the right to remove the camp at any time and refund for the period after removal.
