Cousins kidnap 5-year old for ransom, kill her

A five-year old Egyptian girl child was tortured to death by her cousins after they kidnapped her and failed to get a ransom, reported Al Wafd newspaper.

The five-member family gang took the opportunity of security problems in Egypt after the revolution and kidnapped the daughter of one of their cousins, asking for ransom.

Police in Al Awidha village of Gharbia governorate of Egypt received a tip from Fathay K, father of the girl [identified as Shaima’a], about the disappearance of his daughter when she was playing in front of the family home.

The father of the victim said in his report that he received telephone calls from unknown persons asking him to pay 200,000 Egyptian pounds as a ransom of his daughter.

Meanwhile, the police received a report from the cousin of the child that he had found the girl dead near his house.

The police rushed to the place where the victim found. The forensic report confirmed that the child was burnt in different places in her body which led to her death.

The police searched the house of the cousin of the father of the child. It found a bedsheet soaked with blood and a scarf which the child girl was wearing the day of her disappearance.

The police also found the SIM Chip of the telephone which the criminals used to send SMS to the father.

The police held the 46-year old cousin of the father of the victim identified as Hamdah AG and his wife [identified as Asma’a] and his son and daughter in addition to the fiancé of her daughter.

The accused admitted that his son and the fiancé of his daughter kidnapped the girl. “I was in financial problems and needed money.

“They brought the child to the house where she recognized our voices and said she will tell her father. That is when we decided to get rid of her.

“We subjected her to torture and burnt her all over till she died.

“I accompanied the father when he was looking for her and I tried to convince him not to report the crime to the police.

“We tried to get rid of the body of the child and I asked my wife and my daughter to carry her in a big basket which my wife used to bring foodstuff from the market.

“They dumped her early morning and I claimed that I found the body near my house and informed the police,” he said.

The police arrested them and referred them to the prosecution.

The father of the victim was admitted to the hospital for shock.
