Dubai driving tests are soon to undergo some changes.

Steps are being taken to ensure the “yard test” will be done without having an examiner sit in the test vehicle. This step, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) feel will help boost driver confidence, and therefore, reduce accidents.

Talking to Emirates24|7, Arif Al Malik, Director of Drivers Training & Qualification Department, said, “The yard test (parallel, garage and angle parking, emergency brake and slope), in the near future, it will be fully automated test without having an examiner (sit) in the test vehicle.

“This will ensure fair and accurate testing.

“Further, this will prepare the student for ‘solo’ driving, which will boost their confidence when acquiring the driving license and will result in lesser traffic accidents.”

He added, “The system will be the first in the world to use ‘state-of-art technology’ not used elsewhere and vigorously tested to meet high safety standards.”
