Ladies, it is time to loosen those purse strings and get ready to swoon as Dubai welcomes the latest blingalicious manmade wonder tonight, in the form of the world’s most expensive handbag.

The 1001 Nights Diamond Purse is valued at only a cool $3.8 million, encrusted with more than 4,517 diamonds.

Designed by the House of Mouawad, tonight’s unveiling at The Dubai Mall at 7.30pm will allow you to take a closer look at the flash in the heart-shaped bag, complete with 105 yellow, 56 pink and 4.356 colourless diamonds – all weighing a whopping 381.92 carats.

If this isn’t bling, then we don’t know what is.

The diamond purse has already found place in the Guinness Book of World Records for its whopping price tag, and along with it, so has the name of its Dubai-based designer Pascal Mouawad, co-guardian of the House of Mouawad.

The purse was first unveiled earlier this week at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, where Mouawad was quoted by Reuters as saying: “The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse is designed to mesmerise with its lavish attention to detail and elaborate workmanship incorporating thousands of diamonds.”

The bag was handcrafted from 18-carat gold. It took 10 artisans, working over a period of four months, an incredible 1,100 hours to create the purse.

But this isn’t the first time that Mouawad has gone out on a limb with its diamond creations.

The design house has been around since 1890, and under its diamond encrusted crown is the creation of several bras made out of diamonds, including the Very Sexy Fantasy Bra for Victoria’s Secret.

There has been no word yet if anyone has bought the purse, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it manages to make an appearance of Dubai’s social scene in the near future.
