Latest update: The Al Safa exit has now been opened.

Three major accidents reported across the city has caused traffic chaos during the morning commute with traffic affected on Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and the Dubai-Al Ain highway.

Dubai Police temporarily shut Al Safa exit near the Dubai Bowling Centre, heading northbound due to an accident, which eyewitnesses claim was caused with a truck overturning near the exit. A towing van has been called to the area to clear the debris.

Meanwhile, another six-car pile-up has crippled traffic on Route 66 with ambulances and police on the scene.

Three lanes of the four-lane road are blocked with the front and a rear of a black hatchback completely crushed, while a silver sedan also shows sign of impact in the front, back and its left passenger side; the front of the second car is still crushed into a blue Range Rover.

Few other cars involved in the accident are parked on the hard shoulder, according to eyewitnesses.

Dubai Police confirmed the accident, tweeting: “An accident has been reported on Dubai-Al Ain road towards Dubai before SMBZR bridge, please take care.”

An earlier accident on the same stretch further ahead was also reported near the Nad Al Sheba bridge, with the three cars involved in the fender bender now having moved to the hard shoulder.

Meanwhile, another four-car pile-up on Route 311 has also been reported, Dubai bound, just before Rashadiya Exit on D89. There are pockets of traffic jams reported on Al Wasl Road as well, along with tailbacks on the Dubai Mall exit.
