UPDATE: The Dubai Tram services have resumed after technical glitch that disrupted operations at four stations earlier in the day.

RTA announced this on their Twitter page: "RTA announces the return of Dubai Tram Service back to normal after a disruption that lasted approximately one and a half hour...

"Due to a technical issue that has been resolved by the operating company."

EARLIER:

The Dubai Tram services came to a temporary stop this afternoon around 12.30pm due to a 'technical glitch', the Roads and Transport Authority confirmed.

At 2.30pm on Sunday, four stations were affected by the stoppage, including Damac, Marina towers, Mina Seyahi and Dubai Media City.

"Four stations have been affected due to this temporary halt in services over a technical glitch," Moaza Saeed Al Marri, Director of RTA’s Marketing and Corporate Communications, told Emirates 24|7.

"The RTA's technical crew is currently working on fixing the problem. Buses have been deployed at the affected stations to ensure passengers are ferried without further inconvenience."

Commuters were reporting disruption of services from 12.30pm, with Twitter user Karim Abouzeid tweeting at the time: "Dubai tram out of power at JBR 2 station."

Suzanne also tweeted: "Dubai Tram stopped working. It's too hot to walk."

The RTA is asking Dubai residents to follow the authority's updates on social media for further information.
