100 reckless drivers' licences suspended

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols of Abu Dhabi Police suspended 100 driving licences for three months and slapped fines worth Dhs10, 000 against the truck drivers over charges of reckless driving in Abu Dhabi over the last three weeks.
 
The move is part of comprehensive campaign to curb the traffic accidents caused by overtaking.
 
Col. Hamad Nasser Al Balooshi, Director of the External Areas Traffic Department of the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the danger posed by traffic accidents caused by overtaking of the trucks, indicating that the traffic accidents that occurred on the vehicles roads of Abu Dhabi-Al Ain- Dubai were 43 accidents that claimed that lives of 12 people and 7 people were seriously injured over the last eight months.
 
He underlined that the department was keen on reduction of the accidents caused by the heavy-duty-trucks that caused tragic accidents and critical injuries.
